About PROUT
PROUT is an acronym for PROgressive Utilization Theory, a comprehensive social, economic and political theory propounded by the Indian philosopher Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar.
PROUT emphasizes moral leadership, self governed socio-economic units, producer and consumer cooperatives, humane penal systems, production to satisfiy needs rather than profits and a federated global governmental body to replace anarchy in international affairs.
PROUT’s philosophical foundation is Neo-Humanism, an ecologically aware form of Humanism that also includes concerns for animal and plant life.
PROUT advocates that Human Beings are primarily spiritual beings, and not, for example as propounded by Marx, primarily producers in a system of production or a “totality of needs and drives”.
PROUT provides a modern alternative to Capitalism and Communism, as well as a modern alternative to Representational Democracy and Authocracy/Dictatorship.
PROUT is based on the following 5 fundamental principles:
PRINCIPLE 1:
THERE SHOULD BE NO ACCUMULATION OF WEALTH WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF SOCIETY.
PRINCIPLE 2:
THERE SHOULD BE MAXIMUM UTILIZATION AND RATIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE CRUDE, SUBTLE AND CAUSAL RESOURCES.
PRINCIPLE 3:
THERE SHOULD BE MAXIMUM UTILIZATION OF THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL POTENTIALITIES OF THE INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE BEINGS.
PRINCIPLE 4:
THERE SHOULD BE A WELL-BALANCED ADJUSTMENT AMONG THE CRUDE, SUBTLE AND CAUSAL UTILIZATIONS.
PRINCIPLE 5:
UTILIZATIONS VARY IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHANGES IN TIME SPACE AND FORM; THE UTILIZATIONS SHOULD BE PROGRESSIVE.
